What’s QUIMZEE?

Think - Clay, Fourth Grade, Age 8

I have always enjoyed making things.

From an early age I was encouraged to be creative and to appreciate what can be done with one’s imagination. Legos, puzzles, models, paints, woodworking, clay, etc. filled my spare time and kept my hands busy.

I learned that one only has to think about what can be possible and create it.

I come from a family with a history and passion for the arts and design. From acting, operatic singing, architecture, culinary arts and domestic craftwork, there seems to be a generational tendancy to use one’s creativity . I had great art teachers along the way, from grade school to high school and married into a family with in-laws who were gifted artists. These influences and influencers have encouaged me to follow my passion.

Art is a counter-balance that lies within us all to a world filled of norms, traditions and rationality, as an expression of the unexpressed and unexpected. It’s a labor from the essence of the soul.

“Quimzee” is the mash-up description of the quizzical nature and whimsy of art, and the creative irrationality that serves as an outlet for exploring one’s true uninhibited self.
